Carbis Bay Hotel, Beach-side Wedding Venue

We’re so excited to be shining a light on this STUNNING beach wedding venue. It’s no secret that when you picture a beach wedding, you may not immediately think of the UK. But Cornwall’s Carbis Bay can rival any Mediterranean destination wedding, and we’re going to show you why.

Our last weekend in January was spent at the Carbis Bay Hotel in Cornwall, just a 20minute walk from St Ives. Full disclosure, we were there on a gifted stay, however, everything in this blog is our unfiltered opinion! We can honestly say, Carbis Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve been to in the world, not just the UK.

We were there to celebrate the launch of their new Ocean Suite event space and to stay in one of their new Luxury Beach Lodges, for our 3 day visit. The lodges are idyllic for a get away with friends, luxury mini moon or celebration weekend. Sleeping up to 6, or 8 in their larger lodges, the Lodges sit right on the edge of the beach. Spread across three stories the lodges have everything you need for the perfect get away. From the bottom up, there is a stunning open plan lounge and kitchen, with the highest spec TV going, comfiest sofas and all important coffee machine. Glass doors frame the ocean view and open to the lower terrace, that leads straight on to the sand. The middle floor contained three beautiful bedrooms, two with shower rooms and one with a roll top tub and shower en suite. The top floor was a simple entry hall taking you to the impressive spiral stair case that’s equisite design sits as a spine to the whole Lodge. But one of the best things on the top floor was the roof terrace which boasts perfect ocean views an al fresco dining space and large hot tub, which allowed us to soak up the sea view and fresh sea air even on a January evening! See more about the lodges here.

It’s worth noting that guests of the hotel and lodges may also enjoy all the Estate facilities– including award-winning dining, C Bay Spa, conservatory, terrace bar and lounge, beach and watersports, Sunseeker motor yacht – and enlist their Lodge Guest Host to make restaurant bookings or finalise travel plans.

The Ocean Suite Launch was our first event of the weekend. Like the Lodges and Hotel, the suite has been sympathetically built into the cliff’s edge and is predominantly glass fronted, provided the most amazing views across the Bay. We were welcomed to a Champagne reception, sponsored by Moet, in the lounge, before moving into the main Ocean Suite for a formal dinner, fireworks, live music and dancing. It is a stunning setting, perfect for a luxurious Wedding reception or party.

The following day involved us returning to the Occean Suite for some morning yoga by the beach with Kate Lowe, followed by a tour of the hotel, spa and alternative beach side wedding reception space; The Beach Restaurant.

In our down time, we took the 25 minute walk along the coastal path into St Ives, a Cornish seaside favourite. (the central image above.)

There was, of course, time to watch the sun set from our hot tub, before we made our way to the Beach Restaurant for our final night, dining a la carte and enjoying more live music. The Beach Restaurant sits on top of Carbis Bay’s licenced ‘beach hut’, the perfect place for a true beach ceremony complete with the backdrop of Cornwall’s turquoise ocean and golden sands. You and your guests can move upstairs to the restaurant, and even put a clear marquee on the decking for a relaxing beach reception.

We have really fallen in love with Carbis Bay, and cannot wait to return. More than just a stunning location, every member of the Carbis Bay Hotel team are an absolute joy to encounter. They looked after us so well and treated us to the perfect weekend. Thank you Carbis Bay!
