What made you start your business?

My daughter & fate! After working in the hair industry since the tender age of 15 I had always loved hair ups and bridal and as I worked my way up the ladder to manager I was always the one to be doing all the occasion hair. After working in hair education I ended up in a Sales role, I decided to take the jump and joined advertising. At the time I loved it so many different business to work with but after having my daughter and going back I was still working a 4 day week and I was still taking calls on my one day off. I stayed for 6 months but when I went back I missed my daughter terribly, I decided to hand my notice in and re join the hair industry. One of my last clients was getting married, her hairdresser was scared of wedding hair, so this was my first wedding back. I started to get recommendations and started to create a business, then I lost my dad to a stroke he was only 63. I felt lost but determined to push though for my toddlers sake. I got my portfolio ready and took on my first wedding fair. The rest is history, all nearly 16 years of it!

Give us a fun fact or something no one knows about you

With the lockdown and home schooling and not being able to work it was driving me mad. My son goes to Kung Fu and this all had to go on zoom, the owner there started to offer free Tia Chi classes which I started to attend. After a while I thought ‘I have always wanted to try a martial art’ so I went along to the Adult Kung Fu class. It's a mixed age group from 16 years upwards. Believe it or not the hardest thing for me is learning to speed skip like a boxer. I skipped like a little girl. I'm sure it entertains the others. I started back in August and I'm pleased and slightly shocked to say that I have moved up to red belt.

What are you predicting will be the top bridal hair trends for 2022?

I think that it's going to be interesting to see how trends go this year. For me I'm hoping that the Eco Trend and sustainability will continue to be a strong one. This year for me has still seen a lot of textured hair styles and braids incorporated within the look. The 2022 catwalk hints at Romantic ruffles feminine and floaty, also pretty florals are making a come back. I've also seen Bridgetown inspired looks and stronger puff sleeves or cold shoulder styles and also separates are big. Also the bows are everywhere. If your going for romantic, floaty or florals keep the hairstyle soft and feminine. Think textured updos or soft waves or curls. If your going for a stronger look then go for statement hair bands or statement jewellery.

What is your favourite moment on a wedding day?

First and foremost I "Love weddings" it's such a wonderful business to be in and I feel honoured to be a part of someone's special day. I would have to say the morning as this is what I'm involved with. My favourite moment is the big reveal for her father or the bridesmaids (I've genuinely cried happy tears). I do everything I can to make the morning of a wedding a fun and relaxed one. Getting pampered getting ready and having a glass of chilled fizz ( you can't beat that).
Little tip for you though all parts of your wedding day are amazing but it does go fast so make sure that you two both have some alone time together or you’ll get swept away by the day!

Do you have a favourite celeb bridal look?

This is a difficult one as I honestly love seeing what my brides wedding are like more than a celeb!

How can we keep up to date with you and your team?

It's so good to be working again. I'm mainly on Instagram ( @bridalhairbyjennie) but I'm going to be adding new material to my website (www.bridalhairbyjennie.co.uk) including blogs. Watch this space there are many new exciting plans on the horizon.

Jennie it has been a pleasure! Thanks so much for talking to us. To all those lovely brides looking for a pro hair artist to take care of you and your girls on your big day, look no further!
