5 Reasons to have a Winter Wedding

The morning frost is a regular friend, the evenings are short, yet golden, there’s a crunch underfoot and a chill in the air. Winter is here, and we’re welcoming it with open arms because with the change of the season comes a new breed of wedding: the winter wedding. If you’re considering planning a winter wedding but keep asking yourself ‘why should I have a winter wedding’ or indeed ‘how do I plan a winter wedding’ we’re ready to deliver you our top 5 reasons to have a winter wedding. Offering you advice on why and how to have the best winter wedding ever!

ONE FEAST

Winter is the ultimate season for feasting and indulging in comforts and exquisite food & drink. So really there’s no better time to have a wedding that is all about indulging those you love. A sumptuous feast of several courses is so welcomed in the cooler months, forget the summer salads and light dishes, we’re hear for the hearty, for the flavoursome and delicious decadence. You can spoil your guests throughout the day with culinary delights at a winter wedding, from the food to the cocktails. Think mulled wine bars, spicing up the occasion, add in late night hot chocolates and midnight snacks. On a multi-day celebration you can really explore flavours and create a home-from-home for your guests by treating them to the best and most comforting foods and drinks.

TWO BLACK TIE AT IT’S BEST

A tux and a full length dress were made for the cooler months. Throw in gorgeous outerwear and you have happy guests all around! The same goes for your wedding party, the three piece suit is perfection at a formal winter wedding and the sweltering issues are a thing of the summer-past!

THREE SUBLIME STYLING

Leave behind the Spring and Summer colour palettes and flex the creative muscles. We like to see a shift away from the ordinary in Winter months. The sunset tones, or pastels of the warmer months can be forgotten and you can create something a little different. A white theme, as crystal clean as winter snow, or deep dark moody tones. Anything goes as long as it’s done with conviction.

FOUR THE WINTER WEATHER

Hear us out here, while the UK doesn’t boast the most fabulous weather in winter, at least that is something you can bank on! Summer weddings in the UK are gorgeous, give us a glorious sunny day, even better. But it isn’t guaranteed. In the winter, you can plan to have cold and, most likely, wet weather. That means no plans will be ruined if there’s a shower, in fact it’s likely to be a BIG bonus to your day if you get some glorious golden sunshine on your crisp winter’s day. Guests will be dressed to impress, but also be prepared, so there’s no catching anyone out. And that’s a big plus for us!

FIVE HONEYMOON HEAVEN

Winter sun. Or even, snowy escapes. The winter season gives you some amazing honeymoon opportunities. End your weekend of celebrations with your most favourite people by jumping on a plane and escaping to something truly spectacular. The Caribbean or Maldives are beyond stunning in the winter, and gives us Brits a chance for some much needed sun in an otherwise chilly time. Or embrace the winter and festivity of it all, head to the snowy mountains of Switzerland or chase down the Northern lights in Iceland, sleeping under the stars in the picturesque countryside. It doesn’t get more romantic than that.

We’ve so loved exploring and championing the winter wedding and hope we have you convinced, it truly is a magical time of year! Until next time.
