Real Wedding: Romance on the River bank

A marquee set on the side of the river, a whimsical woodland drinks reception & a sparkler send off on a midsummer's day, Zoe & Alex’s wedding was like something straight out of The Wind in the Willows and an absolutely gorgeous day to be a part of!

It all started with a Skype call…coming to us from their home in London, Zoe was telling us how her American groom-to-be had rented out her favourite museum for a very special date, during which he popped the question! If that level of romance wasn’t enough to get us hooked on this pair’s story (it SO was) when we then heard about the idyllic riverside home her parents had in North Suffolk which would be the setting for their marquee reception, we knew we just HAD to be involved in this wedding.

This was one of those weddings where you just feel so much joy from everyone that has come together and at the centre of it all is just one couple, two people, that are connecting every person present. With the marriage of Zoe and Alex we were seeing two cultures join, not just two families. This meant some lovely traditions were brought into the wedding from both sides of the pond! Our favourite being the first look between Bride and Groom - and luckily for us the wonderful Steven Brooks captured it!

A stolen moment before the ceremony, and then we whisked Alex away, back into the beautiful countryside Church ready for their marriage ceremony.

The gorgeous ‘fresh-from-the-meadow’ style flowers were created by Charlotte at Myrtle and Mint, giving yet another nod to nature, for a wedding that was all about embracing the beautiful outdoors! Following the ceremony, guests made the short journey down a country lane to the riverside home of Zoe’s parents, the setting for their reception.

An island with fairy lights strung overhead, a bridge leading you across the stream to the bank where a classic marquee stood, a deck overlooking the river became the stage for a 4 piece string ensemble - we cannot tell you enough just how idyllic this setting was!

Zoe and Alex opted for a classic wedding breakfast, but for Alex’s groomsmen this was just time for last minute speech prep… we LOVE that Steven captured the moment the gents snuck away to do a last minute read through of their All important speeches! Also, with the wedding happening on the same day as one of the final matches of the World Cup, many guests couldn’t resist keeping up with the game! We’re often so busy on the wedding day keeping everything running smoothly, we don’t always get to see these sweet little moments and so discovering them through the photographer’s lens is always so much fun for us!

As the sun set, the beauty of the location continued to wow the guests! Watching the glow of the party reflect in the river was just wonderful and we pulled together a brilliant sparkler send off for Zoe & Alex, the perfect ending to a wonderful day of celebrations!

It was a truly beautiful day, we were so thrilled to be a part of it and to help Zoe and Alex enjoy the day they had dreamed of.

We’re wishing them the happiest future together.
