Real Wedding: Sri Lanka meets Suffolk in this beauty of a wedding by the beach

Houses in the clouds, Peter Pan themed islands, rowing boats and tuktuk rides…this is the stuff of dreams and story books! How could we say no to managing Rosie & Dylan’s fantastical wedding!?

Dylan and Rosie’s wedding was just one of those little gems for us! They popped up in the January to tell us about their awesome plans for a wedding on the Meare at Thorpeness that would be taking place in the spring, and we simply could not wait to work with them! Big shout out to their fabulous caterers, Gather and Feast for sending D&R our way, because this was just the most amazing wedding day on the beautiful Suffolk Coast.

Preparations started by the beach (idyllic, right!?) with Hello Romance tasked with capturing all the fun these guys had. You’ll soon see that this couple have an awesome bunch of friends and family. We had so much fun on the day getting to know all of their guests and seeing them come together to celebrate their wedding.

So after a quick beer or two(!) Dylan and Rosie had a stunning ceremony in St Peter & St Paul’s Church in Aldeburgh and as a surprise for everyone and a nod to one of Dylan and Rosie’s amazing trips together, what better way to get them from the church to their reception than by TukTuk!

And if you thought arriving by Tuktuk was cool, how about taking a rowing boat under the House in the Clouds and across the Peter Pan Meare to a stunning marquee reception! (Shout out to Crackerjack Marquees!)

The little details helped to make the day so wonderful, so much about the family, acknowledging Dylan’s Sri Lankan heritage through food, pre-dinner ceremonies, the flower choices that brought in traditional Sri Lankan colours. It was such a joyous day, this couple are SO loved by their amazing family and friends, it was impossible not the get caught up in the family-feel!

And even when the rain stopped by for an hour or so, it certainly didn’t stop the crowd taking the rowing boats out onto the Meare for a splash!

Laughter filled speeches ensued, delicious food was eaten, and then a live band sang everyone into the night keeping the dance floor full until the early hours!

As you can probably tell, we had a LOT of fun at this one. In such a short space of time we built a brilliant bond with Dylan and Rosie and it was a true privilege to be a part of their gorgeous wedding. As we’ve already said, shout out to the team players; Crackerjack Marquees, Gather and Feast Catering, Hello Romance Photography, The Cake Shop Bakery, Moat Farm Flowers, Beauty at the Blue Door, SouthEast TukTuks, The Mandarin Dukes. And our final shout out goes to the newest member of Dylan and Rosie’s family, their beautiful baby boy who arrived this year!
