Inspiration Shoot: Ethereal Elegance - Mansion Wedding Inspiration

Way back in February, long before ‘socially distanced’ and ‘lockdown’ were key parts of our vocabulary, we put together a beautiful inspiration shoot with a fabulous collection of suppliers all based on a timeless mansion wedding. Fast forward to August, that very shoot was published on Want That Wedding blog and today we’re delighted to share it with you here as well!

Within the shoot we explored two different looks; Light and Shadow, both with an ethereal and elegant theme, perfectly suited to mansion weddings. Here’s the fabulous images taken by our wonderful friend Gemma Giorgio and our description of the shoot…enjoy!

While creating this beautiful shoot, our focus was on creating an ethereal, timelessly elegant look. Looking to yesteryear and decadently completing our tablescapes, while nodding to trends of today by including modern textures. The beautiful Woolverstone Hall was the perfect backdrop to mirror our intentions, a stunning Georgian Mansion, steeped in History.

The Flowers

We used a soft, spring colour palette incorporating hydrangea blue and soft pink.
To work with such pale hues, you need to be careful not to make the look too ‘sickly sweet’. Silvery eucalyptus allows the blue to come through in the foliage without the need for actual blue flowers and marries the soft pink into the arrangements. It’s important not to overcrowd with colour – we used the blue on the tables only, in the form of napkins and kept the florals two colours only – creams and soft pink. The foliage is key to making this romantic look come together and not look multicoloured!

The Orangery

The stunning Orangery at Woolverstone Hall allowed us to be truly classic in setting and style, yet add a touch of modernity with our Moongate (a top trend for 2020-2021 weddings) and the seemingly floating central arrangement (thanks to the clear acrylic plinth),  from Jades Flower Design. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre Elba and Ellie Goulding and Caspar Jopling’s weddings, who all expertly paired classic looks with more modern styles and created some serious wedding inspo in 2019.

The Billiards Room

We took a moodier turn in here, exploring a dark colour scheme with a softened finish. When working with dark colours in weddings, you want to allow a romantic feel to come in, so it’s still a wedding and not a gothic Halloween party! So, we softened the look with foliage and gold-rimmed tableware. This uplifted the look, keeping it bridal while exploring a darker tone in the black sweetheart table and antique backdrop.

The antique-inspired backdrop from Endless Story paired with our styling of the black sweetheart table is one of our most loved vignettes from this shoot. Light and Shadow. Moody darkness, paired with CMA Hire’s gold-edged crockery, sweeping tulle and bountiful blooms; it’s romantic and timeless.

Our top tips for creating this look

1 – Focus on textures. We love mixing the media – clear acrylic juxtaposing soft blooms and classic urns. Don’t be afraid to use textures and contrasting materials.

2 – Three colour limit & keep it tonal. If you want a timelessly elegant look, don’t go multi-coloured, stick with the classics and make sure this is the place you’re complimenting, not contrasting.

Our real-life couple were at the heart of the authenticity of the romance in this shoot. After hearing about their 2019 nuptials being somewhat tainted by their photos arriving 37 weeks late, we were thrilled to offer them this opportunity to make some beautiful memories and use their friends in the industry to give them a truly positive experience this time!
