Real Wedding: Festive Wedding with mistletoe, Christmas trees and burgundy bridesmaids

Winter wedding gorgeousness incoming with this stunning festive Christmas wedding on the Suffolk Coast. Think cinnamon and orange slices, pine trees and wreaths, warming burgundy tones and the best crowd of fun folks in this festive wedding reception. Welcome to C&A's awesome December wedding.

Winter Wedding Dress Inspiration

Our beautiful bride was no stranger to stunning outfits. Working in the world of wardrobe for some of the greatest productions in the UK and beyond, we couldn't wait to see her dress choice.

With fine, delicate lace, sleeves and pearl fastenings her bridal look was the perfect choice for a festive Christmas wedding. For the chill in the air, our bride and her girls all wowed in vintage style stole wraps. Paired with the lace and the bridesmaids' wine coloured dresses, they all channeled Hollywood glamour!

Unique Buttonhole Ideas

The personal touches. Those little details that truly make the day uniquely yours. That's what it's all about after all. Now, our charming groom asked his father to be his best man, such an honour to give your lovely dad. Something truly special to them both was fishing. So our groom wanted to include a nod to this special pastime in the design of the day. Our brilliant florist, Helen Newman, therefore included these beautiful fishing flies in the buttonholes, making them a perfect unique buttonhole for a winter wedding. A subtle, but significant inclusion.

Burgundy Bridesmaids Dresses and Tweed Suits

Berry tones and heavy materials are perfect for wedding parties when it comes to winter weddings. C&A opted for gorgeous deep reds for the bridal party, with velvet bridesmaid dresses and sparkly wine red bridesmaid dresses completing their bridal party’s ensemble. These rich tones and gorgeous textures were the perfect look for this festive wedding.
The gents’ burgundy ties and pocket squares brought the looks together, matching the girls’ stunning gowns and working beautifully with their tweed suits.

Festive Barn Ceremony

C&A had a beautiful barn ceremony. The floral styling and bouquets truly added a festive touch; the perfect blooms for a winter wedding. Deep reds, forest greens and eucalyptus adding a frosted contrasting touch, with berries and mistletoe to complete the look. A stunning bouquet for a stunning bride, created by the marvellous Helen Newman.

The bridesmaids, in their glittering garnet gowns carried complimentary posies of foliage, with just a hint of red through the delicate inclusion of berries. Such a beautiful, organic and natural look for a winter festive wedding.

Mulled Wine and Standing Speeches

At our very first meeting with C&A we all discussed our love of the Christmas season, and how perfect a festive themed wedding would be. We talked trees and berry tones, the foliage and the fairy lights, but we all agreed the smell of cinnamon, spices and orange is a true Christmas delight. So cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices and pine cones just had to be a part of the day. On every table, hung in the tree, everywhere we could so we could make that beautiful barn smell of the gorgeous Christmas scent we loved. But the cherry on top was a mulled wine drinks reception. The perfect way to fill the barns with Christmas spirit.

Before guests took their seats for a delicious festive feast, prepared by the amazing Peter Harrison, C&A wanted a relaxed approach to the much anticipated speeches, so we arranged for standing speeches to take place before the wedding breakfast. With the backdrop of their stunning festive reception, they laughed and they cried and spread a little festive cheer, and a whole lot of love!

Winter Golden Hour

While the guests enjoyed warming mulled wine and utterly irresistible canapes, truly indulging in the festive wedding reception, we whisked C&A away for a quiet stroll in the stunning grounds of Henham Park. Walking the iconic bridge, soaking in the early golden sunset and sipping champagne.

We often talk about these moments, private escapes within the bustle of the wedding day, but they truly are magical...and always create the most amazing photo memories for our couples! Shoutout to the always brilliant Joshua Patrick Photography.

Festive Wedding Receptions

…done right! Christmas trees adorned with sparkling fairy lights stood in each corner of the main barn, plus one giant tree, decorated with the most deliciously fragrant cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices and pine cones. It set the tone for this natural, Scandi festive reception. The tables continued the look with more of the fragrant décor, twinkling lights in amber toned beer jugs and topped with foliage and hops - giving a nod to our groom’s love of craft brewery. The table names were lovingly created by a friend and were inspire by our couples favourite fictional lands - the most unique touch!

From the loose hanging fairy light canopy overhead to the gorgeous scent that hit you as you entered the room and all the mulled wine and berry tones in between! This was one stunning festive wedding reception.

The party concluded with the brilliant live entertainment of Outside In band. With dancing and utter merriment from a fabulously fun and loving crowd of friends. It was such a joy to witness them all!

Claire, Alun, it was a complete pleasure helping you create this outstanding wedding and a joy to relive it again today. Here’s to you, your wonderful friends and families, and to your beautiful marriage!
