Wedding Trends for 2020

Neon…again!

We talked about this last year as a big trend for 2019. Well it’s going nowhere, we’re seeing the neon trend continuing well into 2020. From love quotes to the bride and grooms names, as well as romantic shapes, or simply bringing light, neon also adds a great style element to your day.

Food & Drink

We think we will see a much more relaxed approach to food & drink, still a formal occasion but served in a more casual way. Think grazing tables instead of canapes, sharing platters instead of plated meals and dessert stations with lots of yummy choices.

Pampas

Last year we talked about hanging florals and that’s certainly something we’ve seen a lot of in 2019. For 2020 we see the introduction of pampas as a floral element. With neutral colouring, gorgeous texture, pampas can have a big impact to the decor on your wedding day and brings some perfectly understated drama to your floral design!

Ceremony Backdrops

Whether you’re having a civil or celebration ceremony, or a traditional church service, we think we’ll be seeing some beautiful backdrops for ceremonies in 2020. It’s a styling element that is unsurprising, Moongates, arches and flower walls have been floating around for a few years now, but we’re seeing the possibilities expand! Think a multitude of textures and materials being explored and it’s feeling pretty industrial - acrylic, wood, grass, metal.

New Age Traditions

We think that 2020 will see more couples making up their own rules when it comes to wedding traditions. For example, forgetting about the cutting of the cake (let’s just eat it!), brides making a speech, grooms getting more involved in the planning (and not just for music!). Also mixing up the order of the day, who says the speeches have to take place at the end of the meal, and why not have a DJ play a set during the drinks reception - get the party started early!

Classic Dresses

Bridal fashion trends are heading a little more classic! Thanks to Kate, Meghan, Ellie Goulding, Rose Leslie and Millie Mackintosh, who all drew inspiration from more traditional looks, we’re predicting a rise of the classic when it comes to wedding dresses. We’ve already seen it with many of our gorgeous brides from this year, opting for structured satin gowns, elegant ‘feature’ sleeves, modest necklines. And let’s face it, you can’t beat a classic.
